  1. Start with purpose: Confirm why this demo exists (discovery, conversion, onboarding, expansion) and what success should drive (explore, book, trial, adopt).

  3. Set a stable time window: Last 14–30 days (then sanity-check that session data has finalized and refreshed).

Before You Benchmark (Critical Prerequisites)

1) Start With the Demo’s Purpose

Before looking at any metrics, start with the demo’s intended purpose. Benchmarks only make sense when evaluated against the goal the asset was designed to achieve.

  • Why was this demo deployed? (Top-of-funnel awareness, mid-funnel education, late-stage validation, onboarding, expansion)

Benchmarking Framework

Step 1: Choose your benchmark lens

  • Internal ROI: adoption + consistency (are teams creating and using demos effectively?)
  • External ROI: buyer/customer engagement quality (does the story land and drive next steps?)
